For Italy was not won against Russia 4:3 enough and they finished on 7th place. Russia is due to worst score behind Denmark on 6th place. Danish team won 13:2 with Portugal. Slovakia took necessary three points against Switzerland 4:2 to finish on 3th place. In the ‘final’ was the Czech Republic and Austria. This match ended with draw 2:2. But this result was enough for Czech team to win gold medals.
In the first half of the day teams were fighting for playing in pool C and for the first place in pool A. Denmark defeated Italy 7:3 and got three points to pool A either D. The Czech Republic finished on the first place of the pool A after won against Slovakia 6:2. Even Austria defeated Portugal 8:0 in pool B, on the first place finished Switzerland after winning match with Russia 3:1 due to better score.
In pool D Russia took three points for win over Denmark 8:5 and Italy defeated Portugal 5:0. In pool C Slovakia quite easily loose match with Austria 2:7 and their wishes for promotion to division A are gone. Vice versa the Czech Republic defeated Switzerland 5:0 and with six points is really close to promotion.
By special diploma of merit for whole life development of field hockey was awarded Jitka Říhová. She helped to organized more than 40 international tournaments and is long-time assistant in Czech hockey federation. The diploma was awarded by general secretary of EHF David Balbirnie, president of EHF indoor hockey committee Jan Vymazal and president of Czech hockey federation Gino Schilders.
All expectations were fulfilled in the pool A and the Czech and Slovak Republic go to the semi-final after two matches. The Czech Republic won 5:2 and 8:1 against Denmark and Italy. The Slovak Republic defeated same teams 10:5 and 12:4. Both winners will fight tomorrow for the first place in the pool. Italy and Denmark will play for staying in the European nations trophy.
We still do not know semi-finalists in pool B in contrast to pool A. The biggest chances got Austria, which won against Russia 5:4 and draw with Switzerland 4:4. Switzerland got same amount of points after defeating Portugal 12:0 and tomorrow will face Russia. With no chances to go to semi-final is Portugal after losses 1:11 and 0:12.
From the last day of European Nations Trophy will be done 40.min tv report and all Sunday’s matches will be broadcasting online.
